Coffee Break Cost Calculator
Find out what your daily coffee habit actually costs over a year.
spent on coffee per year
You're funding someone else's early retirement, one flat white at a time.
This tool calculates the annual cost of your workplace coffee habit based on price per cup and how many you have each working day.
A $5 coffee twice a day sounds reasonable. Multiplied by 250 working days, it's $2,500 a year. This tool does that maths so you can decide whether it's worth it. Spoiler: it probably still is, but at least now you know.
How we work it out
Cost per cup multiplied by cups per day gives a daily total. That daily total is then multiplied by your working days per year for the annual figure. Weekly and monthly figures are derived from there. No tax, no tips included unless they're already in your per-cup price.
Questions
Should I include the cost of making coffee at home?
You can. If you brew at home before work, enter that cost per cup instead. The real comparison most people care about is bought coffee versus home coffee, and the difference is usually significant.
What about coffee subscriptions or office machines?
If your workplace provides free coffee, the cost per cup is effectively zero and the calculator becomes a record of how much you're saving. Enter 0 to confirm this.
Coffee's brewing. Might as well.
